Extreme Programming Rules

nirav June 13th, 2007

If you are familiar with Extreme Programming, these rules are not new to you. If you are not, they will certainly give you a lot of insight in good software development. We have been using many XP principles in our projects, and have had very good success.

Here are the XP rules, straight from the XP website.

Planning

Designing

Coding

Testing

Sometimes I think these are too idealistic. The real world demands are to deliver working software fast. A team that’s tuned to extreme programming can certainly deliver good code quickly, but most programmers are taught differently. They are not tuned to pair programming or test driven development. Many managers too doubt the value of these principles. That makes it more difficult to implement them.

I am dreaming of a project where we can implement all these rules!

Mumbai Photo Marathon done!

nirav April 24th, 2007

It was a hell of a day! Everything in extreme: energy, photographs, hurting legs, heat, batteries and the city itself! Mumbai Photo Marathon 2007 was a great success. I should be writing a detailed note on this - the whole journey starting from the 5.26am train from Borivali station to 6.26pm back home. I would let the photos tell you the story for the time being. There are tons of (150+) photos in the gallery, and I am resubmitting the best shots on Flickr! Comments welcome!

Thanks to all the people who participated. All the people who allowed us to shoot. Kapil, Ameya Ashok S & Prakash for the contribution in organizing the event. Nikita for celebrating our engagement anniversary in this special way!

A palmist for you 6:26 Borivali Fast
Hit or Miss? The Gang

Whew! That’s the collection of some of the best images I have shot so far. Definitely the best in a single day! This was certainly worth the effort and I look forward to the next photo marathon!

Apple TV - more than a media device, weapon of mass networking

Apple Stackable Trio

Read on Bob Cringely about what he thinks Apple’s plans may be with Apple TV - given the stackable designs of Apple TV, MacMini and the new Airport Extreme.

If Apple is planning what Bob thinks, we have a domination coming soon! I just love the way this company thinks ;-)
